This is really good! I like the quirky art style, the controls feel good.

I had some trouble with the mouse cursor getting lost in the action but I don't know how it could be made more visible. I often have this same problem with other similar games too.

I played the Linux version on a laptop with Intel UHD620 and it ran mostly well. Some minor slowdowns when the screen was full of enemies.

Thank you very much!

I have some ideas to try and make the cursor get lost less. You can try lowering ingame resolution to 960x540, it helps a lot for laptops. It will basically look the same except for some blurry text in the UI that I have not fixed yet. Performance will be improved in later versions.

Hey, from my 5 or so minutes with it, it looks really nice, good job!

Three unfortunate things I noticed (47.5-7):

  • The UI text during gameplay is incredibly tiny at times, some option to scale it up would be great.
  • There is massive slowdown once the glitching thing (some kind of portal?) appears, doesn't go away. Genuinely locked 75 fps before goes down to 15 or so fps.
  • The first level seemed really dark, but maybe it's better in the other levels, to be honest I didn't play past it. Some kind of alpha slider would definitely be welcome if you have plans to develop this further.

Thank you for trying it out!

Was the UI Text only too small or was it blurry too? I've had a few issues with it being blurry on some computers.

I looked into the portal slowdown and I think I fixed it, but I can't really test it on my own computer unfortunately.

I will look into having options for UI scaling and brightness, could ideas.

The game is still being worked on and I hope to have a new update ready soon. Thanks for the feedback.

Awesome, glad to hear it's still being worked on!

The UI text I think was only too small (like literaly 4 pixels tall for the pickup text, for example). I think if it was larger it wouldn't be blurry, but I'm not completely sure.

I'm unfortunately not too familiar with itch, but I followed you and saved the game, hope that's enough to get a notification whenever an update comes out :)

I really did receive a notification! Can't wait to try it out!

It's a lot of fun, though the massive slowdown when portals appear is still there. Do you generate the portal graphics (the noise) on the fly or are the portals based on sprites?

Hey, I wanted to check out 49-1 and I just noticed something: When I pause the game after portal appears, the fps get back to 75. Coincidentally I noticed when paused, the portal is also paused and doesn't grain, and I am confident that is not a coincidence.

Hey, thanks for checking it out again. I think I just found out what the problem was finally, which probably sounds silly, but it was an issue with how the portals were being drawn on the radar. I have uploaded a new version with just that extra fix (_RadarFix) which hopefully solves it.

Yes! The fps is now completely stable when the portal appears! Thank you for looking into it! <3

It looks cool :) unfortunately it was running very slowly when I tried to play it.

That is really odd! First time I hear it running slow. I've uploaded a new version that might fix it if you'd like to try again. It could also be a problem with v-sync if you have that enabled in your graphic card's settings. If you try again please let me know.

Still happening. It is oddly consistent, like the music will play a beat and the enemies will move a step. When I pause the game the music plays normally again. Idk what vsync is but I have a built in graphics card so maybe it isnt strong enough.

I've updated again if you've like to give it another go. If you do please try disabling radar in the options. I've tried it on laptops with built in graphics cards before so I think it should work for you too.

Tried it again today and it is working perfectly :)
